Manny Pacquiao invited to the Senate

Senator Juan Edgardo Angara is planning to invite Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao to the Senate for the latter to personally receive the commendation to be given by his colleagues from the Upper House.

“I think he's deserving of a commendation. Win or lose,” he added.

Angara, chairman of the committee on games, amusement, and sports, was among those who welcomed Pacquiao when he arrived in the country Wednesday morning.

A resolution has been filed in the Senate to commend Pacquiao following his fight against Floyd Mayweather on May 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite the loss, Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito, author of the resolution, said Pacquiao showed his greatness inside and outside the ring.

Angara believes Mayweather wants a rematch with Pacquiao, despite the American boxer's statements.

Yun yung totoong nasa damdamin niya. Pero nung sumunod na araw, naisip niya, ‘hindi tayo kikita rito pag pinuri natin si Pacman kaya kelangan tirahin ko si Pacman para may sunod na laban, mas maraming magiging interesado’," he said.

"Let’s face it, di ba?

He also believed that Pacquiao can also go for another fight.

He also believed that the Sarangani representative can also do more in politics.

“Para sa akin, marami pa ring maibibigay si Pacman, whether it’s boxing, whether it’s public service. Marami pa rin syang maibibigay,” he said. -NB, GMA News
