Team Pacquiao requests to keep identity of two new sparring partners secret

Two new sparring partners arrived at the Wild Card Gym on Wednesday (Thursday PHL time) to help Manny Pacquiao in the buildup for his May 2 mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather.

But members of the Filipino ring icon's team asked to keep the identity of the two fighters secret, according to GMA News' Connie Sison.

"Meron pang dumating pa na dalawang sparmates itong ating Pambansang Kamao, pero sa pakiusap na rin ng training team ng ating Pambansang Kamao na sana 'wag nang banggitin ng media ang kanilang mga pangalan at 'wag na rin ipakita ang kanilang mga itsura," she said.

Pacquiao earlier began sparring with unbeaten prospects Kenneth Simms Jr. (5-0, 2 KOs) and Rashidi Ellis (14-0, 11 KOs).

Sources earlier told GMA News Online that unbeaten world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux would join the Pacquiao camp as a sparmate, but trainer Freddie Roach denied the report. —JST, GMA News
