Michael Farenas, Puerto Rican foe make weight for Saturday showdown

World-rated Filipino southpaw Michael Farenas and Puerto Rican prospect Jose Pedraza both made weight for Saturday's super featherweight showdown in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico.

 

The 30-year-old Farenas (39-4-4, 31KOs) tipped the scale at 129.8 pounds while Pedraza (18-0, 12KOs) weighed at the exact limit of 130 pounds.

 

Farenas will be competing against a hometown fighter in Pedraza. Prior to the weigh-in, Farenas stated that he will try to look for a knockout to avoid any possible controversy.

 

The winner of the contest will become the No. 1 IBF world super featherweight contender. — JST, GMA News
