PBA Season 49 All-Star likely to be cancelled, says Marcial

The All-Star Weekend of the PBA's 49th season will likely be cancelled, according to league commissioner Willie Marcial.

The PBA previously announced the postponement of the All-Star event in Davao del Norte due to security concerns and said that it might move the event's venue.

However, Marcial said the supposed replacement of the venue is also not available on the league's preferred dates.

"'Yung All-Star, malamang mawala kasi 'yung kausap nating probinsya, hindi sila puwede sa dates na iyon," Marcial said on Wednesday.

The league was planning to move the All-Star event around the dates of May 16 to 17 after it was initially scheduled on May 2 to 4.

"Kapag umabot tayo ng July, pa-Finals na iyan so most probably wala nang All-Star."

Despite this, Marcial said the league will still contribute to the Players' Trust Fund which is the beneficiary of the All-Star Game.
