For the first time in his career, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson will get to play in a pressure-packed Game 7.
For the three-time Best Import though, it's going to be just another day of basketball.
This is what the flashy reinforcement hopes he and his teammates set their minds to when TNT and Barangay Ginebra go for all the marbles on Friday in the winner-take-all clash at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"I’m looking forward to Game 7," Hollis-Jefferson said on Wednesday.
"Even in the NBA, I didn’t make a Game 7. I think in the second round, we lost to Boston in like five or six games so I’ve never been in a Game 7 but at the end of the day, it’s basketball. It’s do-or-die for both sides, win or go home, let’s give everything."
Hollis-Jefferson and TNT are holding the momentum after pulling off a hard-fought 87-83 win in Game 6, which allowed the wards of head coach Chot Reyes to drag the Gin Kings to sudden death.
The American import led the charge, but got valuable contributions from the locals.
He poured 29 points together with 13 rebounds, six assists, and three steals while Rey Nambatac churned out 23 markers, five boards, three steals, and one dime.
They also got a solid outing from Poy Erram, who shrugged off early foul trouble to finish with 14 points, six rebounds, one steal, and one block.
But he knows the job is far from done, especially with Ginebra bent on avenging its previous finals loss to the Tropang Giga in the Governors' Cup.
"Job for us will always stay the same. It’s not done until we win, win everything. I feel like everybody understands that. We’re blessed to be in this position."
