Khate Castillo beats Sabrina Ionescu in three-point shootout contest

The Philippines' very own Khate Castillo beat no less than Sabrina Ionescu in a three-point shootout challenge at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Castillo, one of Gilas Pilipinas Women's lethal shooters, impressed and poured in 19 points to rule the five-man field that also included the WNBA star, PBA's three-point king Marcio Lassiter, national team member Janine Pontejos, and La Salle sniper Luisa San Juan.

Ionescu is no stranger to shootouts, having once battled Steph Curry in a 3-point challenge during the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. Curry defeated Ionescu then, 29-26.

Ionescu finished joint second with 16 points, tied with the output of Pontejos, who ruled the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup shootout at the Philippine Arena.

Lassiter, who is the current three-point leader in the PBA after soaring past Jimmy Alapag, tallied 13 while San Juan, who plays for La Salle in the UAAP, collected nine markers.
