Red-hot Choco Mucho pulls away in fourth set to frustrate Akari

Choco Mucho maintained its rise in the PVL All-Filipino Conference after hacking out a 25-21,19-25, 25-23, 25-15 win against Akari to extend its winning streak to four on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.
The Flying Titans pulled away for good in a dominant fourth set showing and soared to a 6-3 card to put themselves in a better position ahead of the post-season round while the Chargers slipped to an even 5-5 card.
After a tight third set, Choco Mucho just proved to be too much for Akari after the wards of head coach Dante Alinsunurin opened the fourth with a 12-6 start.
Sisi Rondina then took care of business the rest of the way, converting back-to-back kills before Eli Soyud went too wide on her attack as Choco Mucho leaped into a 16-8 cushion.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat displayed her veteran presence in the endgame, going for two consecutive attacks from the right wing as Rondina's back row hammer saw them enjoying a 21-7 cushion.
Akari fought back with a 7-2 run, but Deanna Wong won the joust against Faith Nisperos before Rondina powered through two blockers to put the punctuation.
The high-flying Rondina strung up 18 points anchored on 17 attacks and one block spiked with nine digs led the show for Choco Mucho.
In the first game, Nxled rode EJ Laure's all-around showing to finally snap a 15-game losing streak, beating Galeries with a 25-20 19-25, 25-14, 25-23 win.
Laure poured 19 points anchored on 14 attacks and five blocks together with nine digs and eight receptions as he tallied a near triple-double to help the Chameleons improve to 1-8.
The High Risers, meanwhile, dropped to a similar 1-8 card.
