Jheremy Godoy sinks game-winner for FEU-D to beat UE in 2OT; NUNS goes 5-0

Far Eastern University-Diliman outlasted the University of the East in double overtime, 97-95, in the UAAP Season 87 high school boys basketball tournament Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Tied at 95 with four ticks remaining in the second overtime period after a Nicholash Lorenzo triple, Jheremy Godoy delivered the game-winner for the Baby Tamaraws who improved to 4-1.
The Baby Tams led by as many as 20 in regulation, but the Junior Warriors outscored them, 23-10, in the fourth quarter which forced the first extra period.
Cabs Cabonilas registered a triple-double of 23 points, 14 boards, and 10 assists, on top of three steals and three blocks. Marc Burgos, meanwhile, had his own double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Mico Pascual had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.
Liam Salangsang added 19 points, while Godoy had eight points as the Baby Tams played without head coach Denok Miranda as he joined the Batang Tamaraws in Japan. Assistant coach Bert Flores took over the squad for Sunday's game.
Cyrehl Alejandro had 24 points, 21 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block for the Junior Warriors who slipped to 2-3.
Meanwhile, National University Nazareth School extended its winning streak to five after a 90-34 drubbing of University of the Philippines Integrated School.
The Bullpups limited the Fighting Maroons to just seven points per quarter in the first half as NUNS collected 46 points. NUNS continued to pound on the Fighting Maroons as it limited UPIS to just eight points in the fourth quarter en route to its 5-0 record.
Reigning Most Valuable Player Collins Akowe had 21 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block, to lead the Bullpups while Bruce Tubongbanua and Rocco Melicor had nine points each as UPIS remained winless in five games.
In the other boys basketball games, Adamson University (2-3) squeaked past Ateneo de Manila University (0-5), 56-52, while University of Santo Tomas (4-1) defeated De La Salle Santiago Zobel (3-2), 82-67.
In girls basketball, UST (2-0) annihilated Ateneo (0-2), 117-29.
