John Amores sells JRU jersey, Sara Duterte letter to Boss Toyo

Basketball player John Amores collected P67,500 after selling two items to popular content creator and businessman Jayson Luzadas, who is more famously known as Boss Toyo.

The 25-year-old Amores sold the jersey he wore during the infamous brawl that occurred between Jose Rizal University and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in NCAA Season 98 in November 2022.

Amores also pawned the letter he received from Vice President Sara Duterte, which included some words of encouragement, following the JRU-Benilde incident.

Amores, who was part of the Heavy Bombers at the time, charged the Blazers bench and threw punches at several players. He was later removed from the JRU basketball team and athletics program and suspended from the NCAA indefinitely.

Amores initially asked for P200,00 for the items, but Boss Toyo haggled for a lower price saying even a signed Steph Curry jersey can be bought within P70,000 to P80,000.

In the end, the two personalities agreed at a price of P67,500.

"Mataas ‘yun. Alam mo kung bakit? Steph Curry signature jersey meron tayong mabibili nasa 70 to 80,000. Other greats jerseys, meron din kaming mga 40k or 50k. Ito controversial jersey, iba naman ‘yun," Boss Toyo said.

"Gusto ko lang na maging maayos ang career mo. ‘Pag naging maayos ang career mo, bumalik ka sa’kin, mahal na ‘yan."

Amores is currently embroiled in another controversy after he was involved in a shooting incident following an altercation during a basketball game. He and his brother were charged with attempted homicide but were released from detention after posting bail.

Amores' professional license has also been revoked by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).
