San Miguel crashes out of playoff contention after loss to Hiroshima

The San Miguel Beermen were eliminated from playoff contention after falling to Japan B.League team Hiroshima Dragonflies, 94-63, on Wednesday in the East Asia Super League at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza in Japan.

With the loss, San Miguel suffered its fourth straight defeat as they remained winless in the competition.

Hiroshima started strong, leading 30-15 just before Juami Tiongson drilled a triple to end the first quarter.

It was all Hiroshima from then as the Dragonflies cruised to the victory with Nick Mayo and Keijiro Metani leading the Japan-based team in scoring with 18 points apiece as they improved to 4-1.

Torren Jones led the Beermen with 24 points, while June Mar Fajardo led the locals with 12 points.

San Miguel, however, will still face Hong Kong Eastern on the 15th and Korea's Suwon KT Sonicboom in February.

Hiroshima, which has clinched a playoff berth, will still face Taiwan's Taoyuan Pauian Pilots on January 22.
