SJ Belangel sizzles with career-high 36 points as Daegu routs Seoul Thunders

SJ Belangel caught fire to fuel the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus to a masterful 114-77 victory over Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League on Saturday at the Jamsil Gymnasium.

The Filipino import erupted for a career-best 36 points anchored on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc — his best three-point showing so far — while also grabbing eight assists, three rebounds, and three steals as they improved to 14-10.

Canadian forward Andrew Nicholson and Senegalese big man Youssopha Ndoye provided the help with the former dropping 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, and three rebounds, and the latter exploding for a double-double 18 markers and 12 boards.

The Thunders, however, absorbed their fourth loss in five games and fell to a 7-17 slate at ninth place in the 10-team field.

Belangel's offensive outburst helped Daegu recover from a narrow 88-81 loss to Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus during their clash right before the New Year last December 31.

Back in that game, the former Ateneo product churned out 23 markers behind five triples made alongside three assists, two steals, and one rebound.
