Christian Standhardinger to 'retire from playing,' says Terrafirma

Christian Standhardinger is set to 'retire from playing,' according to the Terrafirma Dyip.

Terrafirma team governor Bobby Rosales confirmed the development on Thursday.

"Christian has informed the team he will retire from playing despite his live contract which will expire by year end," Rosales said in a message to GMA News Online.

"We have relayed this information to the Office of the Commissioner."

The 35-year old Standhardinger was traded, along with Stanley Pringle, from Barangay Ginebra to Terrafirma last July in exchange of Stephen Holt and Isaac Go.

Back in September, Standhardinger suffered a knee injury, which made him miss the rest of the Governors' Cup. He was listed in the injured/reserve list for the ongoing Commissioner's Cup.

Standhardinger joined the PBA in 2018 as he was drafted by the San Miguel Beermen, then was traded in 2019 with NorthPort, before landing on Barangay Ginebra.

In his stint in the PBA, Standhardinger won the championship four times, two with the Beermen in 2019 and two with Barangay Ginebra in the 2021 Governors' Cup and the 2022-23 Commissioner's Cup.

Standhardinger also claimed the PBA Best Player of the Conference award in the 2019 Governors' Cup and the 2023 Governors' Cup.

The development also came just days after Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig were sent to San Miguel for Terrence Romeo and Vic Manuel.
