Gilas Pilipinas officially clinches FIBA Asia Cup berth after Tall Blacks' win
Gilas Pilipinas has formally sealed its spot in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup after New Zealand completed an 81-64 win over Chinese Taipei in their qualifiers match on Monday.
With the Tall Blacks’ victory, the Philippines, which already has a spotless 4-0 card in Group B so far, is already assured of a slot in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia next year.
Former Converge import Thomas Vodanovich led the way in their home stand, pouring in 11 points alongside five rebounds and twos steals while Corey Webster, who exploded for 25 points against the Philippines, chipped in nine markers.
The Filipinos needed to wait for the result of the New Zealand-Chinese Taipei game even after securing their fourth straight win in as many games last night.
Despite the outright qualification, Gilas Pilipinas will still see action in the third and final window in February.
