San Miguel trades Romeo, Manuel to Terrafirma for Tiongson, Cahilig
San Miguel and Terrafirma have forged a blockbuster trade that will send longtime Beermen Terrence Romeo and Vic Manuel to the Dyip while acquiring the rights to Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig.
The league approved of the deal on Monday.
Romeo ended a five-year stay with San Miguel in which he won all three of his career PBA titles, including the Season 48 Commissioner's Cup last February. Manuel capped a three-year run with the franchise.
They now get to lead a mix of veterans and young guns at Terrafirma where they are set to form a deadly core with Stanley Pringle and Christian Standhardinger alongside Aldrech Ramos, Kevin Ferrer, and Kemark Cariño.
Tiongson, on the other hand, will be getting plenty of help after years of doing the heavy lifting for the Dyip. The 33-year-old guard will join the SMB backcourt that already features the likes of CJ Perez, Chris Ross, Marcio Lassiter, and Jericho Cruz.
The new-look Terrafirma squad will opening its Season 49 Commissioner's Cup campaign against a retooled Converge team.
