Basketball coach Ricky Dandan passes away
Basketball coach Frederick Oliver "Ricky" Dandan passed away on Wednesday. He was 62.
Dandan's son Mark announced details of Coach Ricky's wake which will be held from November 14 to 16 at the Arlington Memorial Chapels in Quezon City.
Dandan handled the UP Fighting Maroons from 2011 to 2013. He also called the shots for PBA team Columbian Dyip for at least a conference in the 2017-18 season.
He was also a part of the coaching staff of professional teams such as Air21, Powerade, and GlobalPort.
The UP Office of Athletics and Sports Development remembered Dandan in his passing.
"We will continue to #UPFight to the finish, just like you always taught us," the office wrote in its social media post.
UP backer Nowhere to Go But UP was also among those who extended their condolonces to Dandan's family.
"Coach Ricky played a vital role in the rebuilding efforts of the UP Men’s Basketball Team, helping to lay the foundation for what has become one of the most inspiring stories in Philippine basketball. Coach Ricky’s contributions will forever be remembered as part of the team’s journey to where it is today," NTGBUP said in a post.
