Ginebra's Tim Cone on 27-point defeat vs TNT: 'Bottom line is we lost'
Barangay Ginebra fell to TNT, 99-72, on Wednesday in Game 5 of the PBA Governors' Cup finals.
Now, the Kings' backs are against the wall as the Tropang Giga inched closer to the crown with the latter taking the series lead, 3-2.
However, for Ginebra head coach Tim Cone, the game did not turn out the way they planned it and a loss, whether it was as close as one point or as big as 27, was still a loss.
"It's one game in the series, it's not the series. Our job, my job, is to win a series, not to win one game, so we just got to get our guys back and rested. We looked overly tired tonight, even though we had a two-day break. We looked overly tired, we weren't moving well, so now our backs are to the wall, and we'll have to come out with a little bit of desperation in Game 6," Cone said after the loss to TNT.
"No one feels worse about losing a game like this than me, but you know, it's the same, losing a 30-point game, losing a one-point game, it's the same in the series."
Along with the loss was Brownlee's low output in the game as he was limited to eight points.
"It doesn't really matter, it's just, you know, it's pogi points. It doesn't really matter. I mean, it doesn't matter what he does individually, it just matters that we lost by 30 points," said Cone.
"Actually, it doesn't even matter that we lost by 30 points, the bottom line is we lost, you know.
"I know our fans feel bad about it, everybody feels bad about it, our team feels bad about it, but the bottom line is it's just one game in a series," he added.
Cone also tipped his hat on their opponents as TNT bounced back after back-to-back losses in the series.
"It could have happened in Game 1 or Game 2 or Game 3. They came out and played, and you got to give [it to] them. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the other team. They were ready, they were hungry, and we were a little satisfied after our two wins, but now it's our turn," said the Ginebra coach.
