June Mar Fajardo wins 11th Best Player of the Conference plum; Rondae Hollis-Jefferson named Best Import

June Mar Fajardo and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson were handed the top individual awards for PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The San Miguel big man was named the Best Player of the Conference for helping steer the Beermen to the semifinals where they would eventually fall to sister team Barangay Ginebra to bow out of the tournament.

Fajardo edged his teammate CJ Perez, the Ginebra duo of Japeth Aguilar and Scottie Thompson, Robert Bolick of NLEX, and Arvin Tolentino of NorthPort on the way to his 11th BPC award.

He garnered 465 statistical points, 476 media votes, 48 player votes for a total of 989 points to add yet another award to his growing collection.

Reinforcement Hollis-Jefferson, meanwhile, was recognized the Best Import for leading the charge for TNT, which currently battles Ginebra in their best-of-seven finals affair.

The American import beat EJ Anosike of San Miguel, Aaron Fuller of Rain or Shine, and Justin Brownlee of Ginebra by collecting 663 statistical points, 491 media votes, and 67 player votes.

This will be Hollis-Jefferson's second straight Best Import recognition after also bagging the same award in the previous Governors' Cup where he led TNT to the title by outlasting the Gin Kings in six games.
