UP downs Adamson, secures Final Four ticket
The University of the Philippines is now assured of a Final Four spot in UAAP Season 87 as they took down Adamson University, 70-59, on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Fighting Maroons improved to 8-1, second behind league-leading De La Salle University (10-1), while the Soaring Falcons slipped to 3-7.
JD Cagulangan had 17 points while Gani Stevens had 10 points for the Diliman-based squad.
Monty Montebon had 14 points, while Anthony Fransman and Cedrick Manzano had 13 and 12 points apiece for Adamson.
Aside from UP, La Salle has also secured a slot in the league's semifinals.
Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas defeated Far Eastern University, 79-70.
Kyle Paranada erupted in the second half with 13 points as the Growling Tigers improved to 5-6. Nic Cabañero had 16 points, while Mo Tounkara had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Veejay Pre, meanwhile, erupted for 31 points as FEU slipped to 3-7.
