UAAP issues stern warnings to DLSU coach Topex Robinson, UP player Reyland Torres for unsportsmanlike conduct

The UAAP issued stern warnings to DLSU head coach Topex Robinson and UP player Reyland Torres for their unsportsmanlike conduct in the two teams' game last Sunday.

In a statement, the UAAP said upon investigation, "both individuals displayed behaviors that do not reflect the values of sportsmanship upheld by the UAAP and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA)."

"Specifically, it was found that Mr. Torres passed in very close proximity to Coach Robinson twice," the UAAP said. "Coach Robinson, in turn, responded with language unbecoming of a coach."

"Both Coach Robinson and Mr. Torres are hereby warned that any future violations of the UAAP's tournament guidelines will result in stricter penalties."

The league also said "allegations that Mr. Torres used profane language and that Coach Robinson spat at Mr. Torres could not be conclusively proven based on testimonies and available evidence during the investigation."

The Green Archers defeated the Fighting Maroons in their first round match, 68-56.

La Salle will take on University of the East on Saturday at 6 p.m., while UP will next face University of Santo Tomas on Sunday, October 13.
