NU beats Ateneo to snap 4-game skid; UST downs FEU


National University snapped its four-game losing skid at the expense of Ateneo de Manila University, 78-68, on Saturday in UAAP Season 87 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Bulldogs led by as much as 14, 43-29, and held off Ateneo's comeback attempt in the fourth period.

Kenshin Padrones led NU with 18 points and six rebounds, while Jake Figueroa had 15 points, seven boards, and four assists as the Bulldogs ended the first round on a high note and improved to 2-5.

Andrew Bongo had 17 points, while Jared Bahay chipped in 15 points as the Blue Eagles were dealt their third straight loss and slipped to 1-6.

Earlier, University of Santo Tomas defeated Far Eastern University, 83-72.

Mo Tounkara had 21 points, 17 rebounds, an assist, and a steal, while Forthsky Padrigao had 14 points, 11 assists, and four rebounds as the Growling Tigers capped the first round with a 4-3 card.

Mo Konateh had 11 boards and 10 points, while Jorick Bautista had 17 points as the Tamaraws slipped to 1-6.
