Terrafirma secures first win at expense of TNT


The Terrafirma Dyip notched its first win in the PBA Governors' Cup at the expense of TNT Tropang Giga, 84-72, on Thursday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

After trailing, 57-50, at the end of the third quarter, the Dyip relied on a strong fourth quarter performance as it outscored TNT, 34-15, en route to its first win.

TNT had the lead, 64-63, at the 7:43 mark of the fourth period before back-to-back triples from Paolo Hernandez and Andreas Cahilig gave Terrafirma the advantage. 

The Tropang Giga was within five with 3:03 remaining before Terrafirma made a 7-0 run to get the lead, 82-70, before eventually sealing the victory.

Antonio Hester had 22 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while Stanley Pringle and Louie Sangalang chipped in 18 and 10 points apiece as the Dyip entered the winning column after eight games.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had 25 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals, two assists, and a block, while RR Pogoy had 23 points as the quarterfinals-bound TNT slipped to 7-2.
