PBA: Adrian Nocum takes charge in OT as Rain or Shine turns back new-look NLEX

PBA: Adrian Nocum of Rain or Shine

Adrian Nocum took up the scoring cudgels in the extra period to give life to Rain or Shine in their 123-114 win against NLEX in the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The sophomore guard scored seven of the Elasto Painters' 13 points in the overtime as they regained the solo top spot with a 6-2 card, surpassing San Miguel and Ginebra who both feature a 5-2 slate.

Rain or Shine wasted a 103-93 lead in the fourth quarter after Robert Bolick and new NLEX import DeQuan Jones powered a 17-5 rampage to secure a 110-108 advantage.

But Jhonard Clarito converted a putback to force a deadlock in the final 19.1 seconds while Nocum put the clamps on Bolick on the final play to stop any chance of a game-winner.

Nocum then caught fire in overtime with the former Mapua standout sinking three straight free throws before his jumper sent Rain or Shine to a 118-114 cushion. He then forced Bolick to commit a costly turnover, setting the stage for an and-one play for him that zoomed them to a six-point advantage.

Bolick's foul against Anton Asistio from the three-point area sealed it for the Elasto Painters with the latter knocking down all freebies.

Asistio finished with a team-high 25 points while import Aaron Fuller exploded for 23 markers, 25 rebounds, and two assists.

The Road Warriors, meanwhile, got 49 points from Jones who also had 11 rebounds and two steals while Bolick and the debuting Javee Mocon chipped in 28 and nine markers apiece.
