PBA: Scottie Thompson posts triple-double as Ginebra gets payback vs. streaking Blackwater

PBA: Scottie Thompson of Barangay Ginebra

Scottie Thompson dominated with a triple-double to help Barangay Ginebra secure a payback victory over Blackwater, 112-98, and extend its streak in the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The former MVP dropped 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting clip to go with 10 rebounds and 11 steals as the Gin Kings avenged their previous 95-88 loss to the Bossing, which kicked off Blackwater's three-game winning streak

Ginebra is now at 4-2 to gain a solo second lead in Group B while Blackwater fell to 3-4.

"I think we just needed, we talked about it, an attitude change. We need to come out with a higher intensity because they've proven to be a really really strong team," Ginebra coach Tim Cone said.

"And we didn't think we had our focus [in the first round meeting]. First of all, it was George King's first game so we never saw him play before."

With Thompson leading on both ends, resident import Justin Brownlee made sure to make his presence felt after he logged 20 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three blocks while rookie RJ Abarrientos chipped in 15 markers, two boards, and three dimes.

Meanwhile, King led Blackwater anew with another stellar outing of 21 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists while Troy Rosario collected 18 markers, seven boards, and one dime.
