PBA: Rain or Shine downs import-less Phoenix for fourth straight win


The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters took down the import-less Phoenix Fuel Masters, 116-99, to notch their fourth straight win in the PBA Governors' Cup on Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

After trailing 29-19, the Elasto Painters made a 36-point romp in the second period against Phoenix' 26, with Adrian Nocum making 19 points in the said quarter alone to end the first half at 55-all.

Rain or Shine then made a 7-0 run to open the third period before Phoenix tied the game again at 76. However, a triple from Gian Mamuyac ignited another 8-0 run to give the Elasto Painters an 84-76 lead at the end of the third quarter. 

The Elasto Painters led by as much as 20 late in the final frame before sealing the win.

After an explosive second quarter, Nocum only scored again in the fourth period to get a total of 21 points. Import Aaron Fuller had 28 points, 22 rebounds, an assist, and a block, while Jhonard Clarito and Andrei Caracut chipped in 15 and 13 points, respectively.

RJ Jazul and JJ Alejandro led the all-Filipino Phoenix with 12 points apiece as they remained winless in three games in Group B.
