Gilas Pilipinas rises to no. 34 in FIBA world rankings

Gilas Pilipinas moved up four spots and is now at no. 34 in the FIBA world rankings.

The ranking was updated as of August 10, 2024 and came after the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

During the FIBA OQT, Gilas pulled off an upset against Latvia and booked a semis slot despite losing to Georgia in their second game.

The nationals faced Brazil in the semis but fell short, 71-60. Brazil eventually booked the ticket to Paris.

Paris Olympics gold medalist United States retained its spot at no. 1 while Serbia went up to no. 2. Germany remained at no. 3, while France moved up five spots to no. 4, while Canada also moved two spots to no. 5.

Gilas will next see action in the November window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.
