From 'Dream Team' to four-peat: USA men's basketball in the Olympics

It was in 1992 when the United States men's basketball team formed one of its best rosters for the Olympics.

The 'Dream Team,' often described as the best team ever formed, was composed of active NBA players of the time such as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone, and Larry Bird. It redeemed USA Basketball from its 3rd place finish in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

After 1992, the United States won two more gold medals. However in 2004, USA Basketball again missed the finals and claimed bronze.

In 2008, the 'Redeem Team' was formed with the likes of the late Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Jason Kidd, and Chris Bosh, and the United States once again became kings of baksetball.

Fast forward to 2024, USA Basketball is gunning for its fifth straight Olympic gold with powerhouse names such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant.
