Alex Cabagnot makes PBA return, signs with Converge

Converge has injected a veteran guard to run its offense, signing Alex Cabagnot as the veteran playmaker makes his return ahead of the PBA Season 49 on August 18.

The FiberXers announced Cabagnot's signing on Monday with the nine-time PBA champion now leading a youth-laden core led by Justin Arana, Alec Stockton, Bryan Andrade, and recent top overall pick Justine Baltazar.

The 41-year-old Cabagnot last played in the PBA in 2023, when he suited up for Terrafirma but his contract did not get renewed, prompting him to take his act elsewhere.

He then played for Goyang Sono in Korea later that year before transferring to the Taiwan Mustangs, which once played Gilas Pilipinas in an exhibition game before the nationals' campaign at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Cabagnot tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in that game that Gilas won, 74-64.
