Standhardinger has nothing but love, respect for Ginebra after being traded to Terrafirma

Christian Standhardinger is heading to his fourth team in his entire PBA career after Barangay Ginebra traded him away to Terrafirma alongside Stanley Pringle on Saturday.

Despite this, the 35-year-old veteran has nothing but love and respect after the Ginebra management's decision, saying he wishes the squad the best moving forward.

"I acknowledge Coach Tim’s decision to trade me and respect it. It’s part of the game, and I wish him and the team all the best moving forward," Standhardinger said in a lengthy post on Instagram shortly after the league announced the blockbuster trade.

"Thank you all once again for the incredible journey. Here’s to new beginnings and continued success for Ginebra!"

The 6-foot-8 bruiser started his PBA run with San Miguel before he got sent to NorthPort in exchange for Mo Tautuaa. But he didn't stay there for long either as he became part of a deal that shipped him to Ginebra for Greg Slaughter in 2021.

It was in Ginebra's camp and under Tim Cone's tutelage that he would blossom more as a threat on both ends, helping the franchise win two titles in the 2021 Governors' Cup and 2022-2023 Commissioner's Cup.

In the previous Season 48, the Filipino-German big man actually came second after San Miguel's June Mar Fajardo in the MVP race after helping the Gin Kings reach back-to-back semifinals appearances.

However, his time with the Gin Kings came to an end on Saturday as the team sent him and Pringle to the Dyip in exchange for the Rookie of the Year frontrunner Stephen Holt, Isaac Go, and a no. 3 pick in the upcoming Draft on Sunday.

"I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible support and love you’ve shown me throughout my time with Barangay Ginebra. Being part of this team has been a truly unforgettable journey, and I’m grateful for every cheer, every chant, and every moment of encouragement," he added.

Standhardinger also clarified that he was open to being traded last year, but intended to stay in Ginebra after playing the whole season.

"Yesterday, Coach Tim called me and communicated his decision to trade me for younger players. I want to emphasize that I had nothing to do with this decision as I was committed to finishing my contract with Ginebra," he said in his social media post.
