Will Dwight Ramos play in the PBA in the future?

After seasons of playing abroad, Dave Ildefonso and RJ Abarrientos are returning to the Philippines as they have submitted their names in the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft.

Greg Slaughter and Rhenz Abando are also playing for clubs based in the Philippines.

With some players based overseas returning home to play basketball, could Dwight Ramos follow suit in the near future?

"I think so, eventually. I don’t know when, but hopefully," Ramos, a player for Japan B.League team Levanga Hokkaido, said in an interview prior to an event organized by Lawson.

Playing in the B.League since 2021, the Gilas Pilipinas star is aware of the challenges Filipino imports face when playing abroad.

"I think it’s hard playing overseas. It’s not your home country, you don’t feel as comfortable, and you’re by yourself for like almost the whole year," Ramos said.

"When you do it over the years, you kind of feel like you’re missing out on a lot of things. You’re missing your family, so sure that’s probably what those guys felt and they just wanted to come home and play in the Philippines."

Ramos believes those who returned home will still do great in their careers.

"They’re all gonna do great here because it’s their home country and they played here for so long."

Ramos recently re-signed with Levanga Hokkaido for his third season with the squad. It will be his fourth season in the Japanese pro league.
