Gilas Pilipinas Boys finish 16th in FIBA U17 World Cup


Gilas Pilipinas Boys finished last out of 16 teams in the FIBA U17 World Cup.

The Philippines, who played without Kieffer Alas in the tourney, wrapped its campaign on Sunday in Istanbul with a loss against Australia, 115-53, in the classification round.

Edryn Morales posted 17 points, while Joaquin Ludovice had 10 points as the young Gilas boys wrapped its winless campaign in the World Cup.

In the group phase, the Philippines fell to Lithuania (107-48), Spain (96-34)Puerto Rico (98-53), and USA (141-45).

The nationals also lost to Argentina (83-67) and China (85-66) in the classification round.

This is the Philippines' worst finish in the U17 World Cup as it finished 13th in 2018 and 15th in 2014.
