Gilas Pilipinas Women go all out in Jones Cup with loaded roster
Gilas Pilipinas Women are leaving no stone unturned when they see action in the 43rd William Jones Cup as the Patrick Aquino-mentored crew parades a loaded roster.
Jack Animam will lead the fold alongside national team mainstays Janine Pontejos, Khate Castillo, Afril Bernardino, Chack Cabinbin, and Andrea Tongco as they get pitted in a six-team field alongside Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and two teams from Chinese Taipei.
Stefanie Berberabe, Louna Ozar, Camille Nolasco, Cielo Pagdulagan, Kate Bobadilla, Kristal Yumul, Areej Burgonio, and Camille Claro were also called for national duties.
Naomi Panganiban and Gab Ramos will also make their seniors debut after they played crucial roles in the Philippines' championship sweep during the FIBA U18 Asia Cup Division B.
The Filipinas are looking to bounce back from a lackluster campaign in the previous Jones Cup edition, where they finished fifth among six squads with a 1-4 win-loss record.
In the men's side, the Strong Group Athletics will represent the Philippines with a mixture of local and foreign reinforcements leading the team of head coach Charles Tiu.
The women's tournament will run from July 6 to July 10 while the men's division will take place from July 13 to July 21.
