Rey Nambatac officially with TNT after Blackwater trade gets PBA nod

PBA: Rey Nambatac of Blackwater

Rey Nambatac has officially been traded by Blackwater to TNT after the deal got the approval of the PBA weeks after the initial report of the transaction came out.

The Tropang Giga acquired the rights to the 30-year-old Nambatac while Blackwater received Kib Montalbo, Jewel Ponferrada, and TNT’s Season 53 second round pick, the league announced on Tuesday.

This will be Nambatac's third team in six months after the former Colegio de San Juan de Letran standout was sent to Bossing last February following a seven-year stint with Rain or Shine.

He then spent one conference with the franchise during the recent Philippine Cup, emerging as the second top scorer with 11.09 points on top of 2.82 rebounds, 4.36 assists, and 1.0 steals as they ended the campaign with a 4-7 win-loss record.

Now with TNT, Nambatac is tipped to provide a huge boost and will team up with college rival Calvin Oftana, who powered San Beda University during his NCAA days. Nambatac is also expected to bolster the core led by RR Pogoy, Jayson Castro, Kelly Williams, Kim Aurin, and Glenn Khobuntin.
