Kieffer Alas leads Gilas Boys in FIBA U17 World Cup

High school standout Kieffer Alas will lead the young Gilas Pilipinas squad in the FIBA U17 World Cup in Istanbul.

De La Salle Santiago Zobel's Alas, a part of the UAAP Season 86 high school basketball Mythical Five, will be joined by the likes of Kurt Nathan Velasquez, Joaquin Ludovice, and Irus Chua.

Elijah Williams, Cletz David Amos, Edryn Morales, Bonn Daja, Paul Diao, Jaime Gomez De Liaño, Samuel Alegre, and Noah Banal will also return to the U17 World Cup after finishing fourth overall in the U16 Asian Championship.

The Philippines will start its campaign on Saturday against Lithuania, followed by Spain on the 30th, and Puerto Rico on July 2.

The last time the Philippines qualified in 2018, Gilas finished 13th overall in the tournament.
