Terrence Romeo eager to help San Miguel despite calf strain

San Miguel star Terrence Romeo played again for the Beermen in Game 4 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals last Wednesday.

Still suffering from calf strain, Romeo said he just wanted to help the team win the crucial game which eventually tied the series at 2-2.

"Wala pa akong three weeks, pero gusto ko talaga makatulong sa team, kahit ilang minutes ako gamitin. Gusto ko talaga makatulong," Romeo said after their 111-101 win against the Bolts.

(Not three weeks in yet but I really wanted to help the team, even for just a few minutes. I really wanted to help.)

Romeo admitted it was his first time to play a full game since San Miguel's semifinals series against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and he was aware of his teammates' pace in the ongoing finals series.

"'Di ko alam saan ako kukuha ng resistensya. Ang taas na ng level ng game nila kasi tuloy-tuloy ang laro nila starting semis, Game 1 ng finals. 'Yung feel ng game ang taas na ng level, ang layo ng kailangan ko habulin when it comes to conditioning and at the same time may iniinda ako."

(I don't know where to get the resistance. They're game is already on a high level since they played since the semis, then Game 1 of the finals. Their feel for the game is high already. I have a lot to catch up when it comes to conditioning and at the same time I am feeling something.)

While he admitted still feeling some pain in his other leg, Romeo said he is willing to make the sacrifice for the team's greater good.

"Di ko na iniisip, gusto ko lang makatulong, basta manalo lang ng finals. Sinasabi ko na lang, i-sacrifice ko 'yung sarili ko basta makatulong ako sa team sa kahit na papaanong paraan."

(I'm not thinking about it anymore, I just wanted to help, as long as we win. I just tell myself that I would sacrifice as long as I can help the team even in my own little ways.)

Game 5 of the finals will be played on Friday.
