Javi Gomez de Liaño parts ways with Terrafirma, heads to Korea

Javi Gomez de Liaño has parted ways with the Terrafirma Dyip and will take his talents to Korea.

Gomez de Liaño posted his farewell message to the team on Friday.

"Thank you for the 2 amazing years that have passed! I am truly grateful for the opportunity of being able to play in the PBA, most especially making it to the playoffs with this franchise," Gomez de Liaño wrote while referring to their recent playoffs appearance.

"The team accepted me with open arms from the day I got traded and have helped me develop into not only a better player, but more importantly, a better individual. To the fans, thank you for showing up to our games and cheering us on! To my team mates, thank you for being real ones on and off the court. Our bond will definitely go a long way!"

Gomez de Liaño also thanked those who supported him in his journey.

"These 2 years were definitely a big boost to my career. Without the trust, I wouldn’t be here and I will always be grateful for that. Till we meet again down the road!"

Terrafirma head coach John Cardel, meanwhile, confirmed to GMA News Online that Gomez de Liaño has bid farewell to the Dyip.

"Nagpaalam na s'ya, pumirma na s'ya [in] one of Korea teams," Cardel said in a message.

In the ongoing Philippine Cup, Gomez De Liaño posted averages of 15.92 points, 5.58 rebounds, and 1.50 assists per game.

Gomez de Liaño was drafted eighth overall in the 2022 Rookie Draft by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel but he was immediately traded to Terrafirma.

Prior to his PBA stint, he played in the Japan B.League with the Ibaraki Robots.
