Ravena brothers on the move as Kiefer joins SGA, Thirdy leaves San-En

The Ravena brothers have been busy making leaps in their respective basketball careers as Kiefer signed to bolster Strong Group Athletics, while the younger Thirdy entered free agency.

SGA announced on Friday that it has signed Kiefer ahead of its campaign in the 43rd William Jones Cup, where the organization will represent the Philippines from July 13 to 21 in Taiwan.

"It's a great opportunity for me to showcase my skills in front of our kababayans again and contribute to the team's success. Siyempre, gusto ko talaga maging part ng team na ‘to at sana makabawi kami from the heartbreak we experienced in Dubai," Ravena said.

"This is a chance for redemption, and I'm looking forward to giving my best effort for the fans and for our country."

Kiefer will join Jordan Heading and Caelan Tiongson in the Strong Group lineup.

Kiefer was coming off a championship run in the B2 division of Japan B. League, helping the Shiga Lakes sweep Koshigaya in their finals duel to earn a promotion to the top-tier division.

Meanwhile, his younger brother, Thirdy, has parted ways with the San-En Neophoenix after the latter's contract reached its expiration at the conclusion of the recent season.

The 27-year-old guard was fresh from his best campaign with San-En, his team ever since his pioneering stint in 2020, after the club finished third in the elimination round with an impressive 46-14 win-loss slate.

However, they lost to the Hiroshima Dragonflies in the quarterfinals to end their Cinderella run.

As he wrapped his four-year stint with San-En, the Filipino high-flyer said he has nothing but love for the team that served as his home away from home.

"Thank you so much for welcoming this young kid from the Philippines with open arms. It's been a great honor fighting for the club every single game," Thirdy said in an Instagram post Friday.

"The thought of having to leave this place that I've called home these past few years gets me very emotional, but such is life. We keep moving forward."

Thirdy has yet to reveal where he is headed next.
