Gilas Women dominate Tahiti to open FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup campaign
Gilas Pilipinas Women kicked off their FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup campaign on a rousing note after mauling a hapless Tahiti in their qualifying draw clash, 21-3, on Wednesday in Singapore.
National team mainstays Jhazmine Joson and Mikka Cacho led the charge for the Filipina ballers with the former pouring in a game-high 10 points, including the last four points that sealed the easy victory.
Cacho, who was part of the silver medal 3x3 squad during the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, chipped in seven markers to help the cause.
Already holding a two-point cushion at 5-3, Gilas Pilipinas unloaded a wild 16-0 rampage that completely took the fight out of Tahiti en route to the dominant win.
Gilas, which ruled the first-ever 3x3 competition in the SEA Games back in 2019, will look to build on this momentum as it takes on Maldives later in the day.
