Andy Gemao in NBA All-Star BWB Global Camp 'a great opportunity' for development, says NBA's Mark Tatum

Andy Gemao is part of the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp in the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend and for NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum, it would be a great opportunity for the Filipino prospect's development.

Gemao is one of the 40 high school prospects invited for the camp slated from February 16 to 18 in Indiana, USA.

"To have a player like Andy there is going to give him that exposure to some of the best players in the world," Tatum said in a virtual conference with international media.

"I think that's a great opportunity for Andy to really get exposure," said Tatum, adding that one way of getting better in sports is to compete with top athletes from other countries.

Tatum also believes the camp has been a good platform for talent development with the likes of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz as cited products of the camp.

Meanwhile, in Martin Javier's report on 24 Oras on Thursday, Gemao gave a tip to aspiring young ballers.

"Isipin mo lang kung saan ka nagsimula, stay grounded, at magpursigi," said the Colegio de San Juan de Letran product.

(Remember where you started, stay grounded and persevere.)

Gemao played with the Letran Squires in the NCAA Season 98 juniors basketball tournament where he was named Finals MVP as they finished as champions.
