Andy Gemao gets invite for BWB Global Camp in NBA All-Star

Andy Gemao, one of the top high school prospects in the country, has been invited to participate in the 8th Basketball Without Borders Global camp, which is part of the NBA All-Star 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Gemao was among the 40 prospects from across the globe who were listed as attendees in the camp slated from February 16 to 18 at the Mojo Up Sports Complex.

The 6-foot high-flying guard is also the lone Filipino player invited to the camp, which will also have young aspirants from Africa, the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Among the products of BWB Global camp are Denver Nuggets' Jamal Murray, Oklahoma City Thunders' Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Portland Trail Blazers' Deandre Ayton, and Los Angeles Lakers' Rui Hachimura.

"The camp, which will be open to NBA team personnel, will bring together 40 of the top high-school-age prospects from Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe to participate in athletic testing, movement efficiency, skill development stations, shooting and skills competitions, life skills seminars and 5-on-5 games under the guidance of current and former NBA and WNBA players, legends and coaches, including Joakim Noah and Detlef Schrempf," NBA said in a statement.

Gemao, for his part, said he's just blessed to be part of the global camp, which came just months after his participation in the 13th Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia last June 2023.

"Isa sa highest level ng high school basketball sa buong mundo, sobrang blessed ako na nakasali ako doon dahil sa last stint ko sa Dubai," Gemao said in an interview with GMA News Online.

Gemao previously played for the Letran Squires in NCAA Season 98 where he was named Finals MVP and a member of the Mythical Team.
