Calvin Abueva, Mo Tautuaa's wife engage in heated verbal spat
Calvin Abueva and Mo Tautuaa's wife, Aida, had to be pacified after engaging in a heated verbal exchange on the heels of San Miguel's 109-85 Game 2 win against Magnolia on Sunday in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Just minutes after the lopsided affair, Abueva and Aida were seen in a shouting match. He said Aida accused him of making a facial gesture directed at her.
"Ewan ko sa kanya. Dumaan siya dito (habang) hinihintay ko 'yung anak ko and then tinanong niya ako," said Abueva in a brief talk with members of the media.
"Sino ka para i-smile ko 'yan, ha, sino 'yon, ha? Tapos nandiyan 'yung mga anak ko tapos nagga-ganyan siya? Dumaan ako nang maayos."
(I don't know about her. She passed by while I was waiting for my children and then she asked me. Why will I smile on her? And my children are there and she's acting like that.)
GMA News Online has reached out to Mo for his side.
Following the spat just outside the players' dugout, Abueva’s wife Sam came to the defense of her husband, whose Magnolia squad fell to a 0-2 series hole in their best-of-seven affair.
"Tayong mga wife, hindi natin pwedeng bastusin 'yung mga asawa ng kahit sinong players, 'di ba? Sa game lang, pero 'pag dumaan 'yung players you have to respect the players pa rin," Sam said during the altercation.
"Mali 'yung ginagawa niya."
(We as wives, we should not disrespect the wives of other players. If the players pass by, you must respect the players also. What she did was wrong.)
This is not the first time that Abueva got involved in an incident with a player's wife or partner.
In June 2019, Abueva made lewd gestures towards the partner then of Ray Parks, and was slapped with a P20,000 fine by the league.
He was also suspended following this and another on-court incident in a separate game.
