Quiambao, Escandor tow Strong Group past Al Wahda in Dubai
Kevin Quiambao and Francis Escandor waxed hot from rainbow country to tow the Strong Group Athletics past Syria's Al Wahda, 89-67, on Saturday in the Dubai International Basketball Championship at Al Nasr Club, Dubai.
The reigning UAAP Most Valuable Player connected all six three-point attempts en route to a 24-point outing, while his De La Salle University teammate Escandor drilled five triples in his 18-point performance.
The Philippine representative led by as much as 27 points past the halfway mark of the final frame, 82-55, before eventually taking its second win.
Strong Group also won its opening game against the UAE National Team, 82-66.
Aside from the two collegiate standouts, Jordan Heading and Andray Blatche also scored in double digits with 12 points apiece.
Myron Jordan led Al Wahda with 19 points, while Jomaru Hohadbrown with 17 points for Syria.
Strong Group will return to action on Sunday when they play Lebanon's Homenetmen at 11:15 p.m.
