Matthew Wright, Ray Parks join fellow Pinoy imports in B.League's 1,000-point club
Matthew Wright of Kyoto Hannaryz and Ray Parks of the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins joined three of their fellow Filipino imports in the elite 1,000-point club of the Japanese B. League over the weekend.
The sweet-shooting Wright reached the feat during their 83-76 loss to powerhouse Chiba Jets, where the 32-year-old guard collected 13 points for a total of 1,012 markers as of Sunday.
The former Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Master in the PBA also became the fastest Filipino import in the league to breach 1,000 points as he achieved it after just 80 games.
The 30-year-old Parks also hit the 1,000-point mark during Nagoya's 92-79 loss to Thirdy Ravena's San-En NeoPhoenix on Saturday, January 6, where the former NU standout had six points.
Just before the 2024 started, another Filipino reinforcement in Dwight Ramos, who is averaging 9.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in the ongoing 2023-2024 season, also entered the 1,000-point crew in their 87-65 drubbing of his old squad Toyama.
The first to achieve the feat was pioneer Thirdy Ravena, who now has a total of 1,710 points in his fourth season with San-En while his older brother, Kiefer, had also entered the mark. Unfortunately, though, Kiefer's Shiga Lakes have been relegated to B2 and his current B1 total points stands at 1,252.
