UAAP: Evan Nelle relishes 'best years of my life' with La Salle, talks about Kitty Duterte

Evan Nelle is once again a collegiate champion.

Aside from winning the UAAP Season 86 men's basketball title with De La Salle University on Thursday, Nelle was also part of the San Beda University squad which won the NCAA Season 94 title.

"First year ko, champion, 'di ako gamit. Last year ko, nagagamit ako, champion pa. It's like vindication for me," Nelle said.

"I gotta give it to my team. It feels so good. I have no perfect words for it."

(During my first year, I was a champion, but I was not that much used. In my last year, I'm played and also a champion. It's like vindication for me.)

For Nelle, moving to La Salle from San Beda was worth it.

"Perfect setting for me, perfect environment for me lalo na my last year was really perfect," Nelle said.

"On my last year, just the bond we created with my teammates, everybody around us. It's something different."

"The La Salle years were the best years of my life," he added.

While Nelle has been crucial in La Salle's run to the championship, his on-court moment with Kitty Duterte, daughter of former president Rodrigo Duterte, also stood out.

Asked about their moment, Nelle said Kitty knew as well his efforts for the title.

"I think she knew naman na how much I wanted this. I'll just leave it at that."
