Migs Oczon leaves Benilde, signs with Ulsan in KBL
Migs Oczon has decided to leave Taft Avenue and bring his act to South Korea.
The 6-foot sharpshooter has signed with the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, foregoing his remaining two years with De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in the NCAA. Blazers head coach Charles Tiu confirmed the news to GMA News Online on Wednesday morning.
Oczon will join Ulsan that was previously bannered by another Filipino import in RJ Abarrientos, whose impressive performance won him the Rookie of the Year plum last season.
The former Blazer left National University after one season to jump ship to Benilde, where he was nothing short of stellar.
In his rookie year in Season 98, Oczon was the third leading scorer for the Blazers after averaging 11.75 points behind reigning MVP Will Gozum and veteran Miggy Corteza while also chipping in 4.9 rebounds, 2.35 assists, and 0.95 steals to help Benilde reach the finals.
In Season 99, Oczon emerged as the top player for the Taft crew with 13.37 markers alongside 4.79 boards, 2.68 dimes, and 1.16 steals as they fell short of a finals return after bowing to top seed Mapua in the Final Four round.
Oczon, though, won't be seeing action when Benilde takes on Lyceum of the Philippines University in their battle for third place on Sunday.
