JRU guard JL Delos Santos formally joins Converge
After closing out a four-year stint with Jose Rizal University, JL Delos Santos is set to formally open a new chapter in his basketball career as he signed with Converge to see action in the PBA.
The FiberXers announced the development on Monday, but didn't bare terms of the contract with the rookie playmaker.
Delos Santos' arrival is expected to inject more youth into the Converge roster as the team remains in hunt for its breakthrough win in the ongoing 2023 PBA Commissioner's Cup. They have absorbed five losses in as many games to start the conference.
Delos Santos, who was picked in the second round of the previous rookie draft, will join fellow rookies King Caralipio, Inand Fornillos, Patrick Maadenberg, and Bryan Santos alongside other key players in Justin Arana, Kevin Racal, Aljun Melecio, and Jerrick Balanza.
The former Heavy Bomber was among the key cogs for JRU in Season 99, averaging 7.94 points, 5.83 rebounds, 6.28 assists, 2.28 steals, and 0.61 blocks as they just fell short of a Final Four spot with a 10-8 record.
Delos Santos is expected to make his debut on Wednesday when Converge takes on NorthPort at 4 p.m.
