NBA: Scottie Barnes scores 23 to help Raptors end Suns' win streak


Scottie Barnes NBA Toronto Raptors vs Phoenix Suns

Scottie Barnes scored 23 points - 12 in the fourth quarter - and the Toronto Raptors defeated the visiting Phoenix Suns 112-105 Wednesday night.

The loss ended the Suns' seven-game winning streak.

Pascal Siakam added 22 points for the Raptors, who had lost their two previous games.

Kevin Durant scored 30 points for the Suns after missing two games with a sore right foot.

Jakob Poeltl had 17 points for Toronto. Precious Achiuwa added 14 points and Gary Trent Jr. and and OG Anunoby each scored 13 points.

Jusuf Nurkic had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Suns, who completed a three-game road trip. Josh Okogie and Eric Gordon each scored 10 points, while Devin Booker had eight.

Toronto took a six-point lead into the fourth quarter. The advantage reached 11 on Achiuwa's 3-pointer with 8:07 to play but Durant responded with seven straight points.

Nurkic's bank shot later cut the lead to two but a 3-pointer by Anunoby put Toronto up by five with 2:08 left. Okogie's two free throws trimmed the advantage to three. Dennis Schroder answered with a layup and Toronto led by five with 24.4 seconds left.

Toronto led 27-20 after the first quarter and scored the first five points of the second. The lead went down to one on Durant's layup with 7:50 left in the second quarter.

Toronto opened a 12-point advantage with 2:28 to play in the first half on Siakam's layup and free throw. Booker completed the first-half scoring by making two free throws to trim Toronto's lead to 60-53.

Toronto shot 50 percent (23-for-46) from the field in the first half with Siakam scoring 14 points. Phoenix shot 40.9 percent (18-for-44) in the first half with Durant scoring 13 points.

Booker went to the bench early in the third quarter when he rolled over on his right ankle. He returned with 3:59 left in the quarter.

Nurkic hit a 3-pointer to give Phoenix a two-point lead with 5:02 left in the third. Toronto came back and led 86-80 when Barnes closed out the third quarter with two free throws.

Grayson Allen (illness) and did not play for Phoenix.
