PBA: Marcio Lassiter dagger powers San Miguel escape vs. ROS
Marcio Lassiter knocked down a dagger triple to tow San Miguel to a gutsy 115-110 escape against Rain or Shine and hand their third consecutive win in the 2023 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The veteran sniper broke a 108-all deadlock after he drained a clutch three-pointer over the defense of Jhonard Clarito while also drawing the foul, but was unable to sink the free throw as the Beermen took a three-point lead.
Chris Ross' three freebies then proved to be the finishing kick for San Miguel as they completed the comeback victory after trailing by as much as 13 late in the first quarter.
Lassiter put together 23 points off the bench alongside three assists, two rebounds, and a steal while Ivan Aska led the way with a double-double outing of 28 markers and 12 boards on top of four dimes and three blocks as San Miguel improved to 3-1.
The Elasto Painters, meanwhile, will continue their search for a breakthrough win as they fell to a 0-5 hole despite getting a career-high outing from Gian Mamuyac and an impressive outing from rookie Rence Nocum.
Mamuyac dropped a scorching 33-point outburst laced with three rebounds, four assists, and two steals while Nocum chipped in 12 markers, three rebounds, and one assist in 22 minutes of action.
