Barangay Ginebra moves forward from collapse vs. Magnolia, says Tim Cone

For Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone, their recent loss to the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots was a game he will probably remember for a long time.

Ginebra had a 26-point lead in the second quarter of the said match but eventually fell to the Hotshots, 93-91.

"It was a difficult game to swallow," Cone said after the PBA Press Corps Awards Night where he was named Coach of the Year for the fourth time.

"You remember those games and this one's going to be one I'll remember for a long time. But we're also going to move forward from it," he added.

For Cone, the game revealed the strengths and weaknesses of the team.

"I felt that [in the] first half we showed how good we can be as a team. We really played to our absolute potential. In the second half, we showed how bad we can be as a team," Cone said.

"It's early in the season, we're not going to feel too bad about it. Just move on, learn a few things from it."

On Monday, the PBA also said the officiating crew missed a call during the dying seconds of the game.

"During the game - in real time while the play was on, the game crew did not see a foul. The officials failed to call a foul (missed call) on Barroca against Thompson in the last 11.5 seconds of the 4th quarter," league deputy commissioner Eric Castro said in a statement.

With this, the league suspended the officiating crew.

While the results of the game will not change, Cone said the PBA review was a part of the league's improvement.

"I don't want to get any referee in trouble. It's unfortunate that it wasn't called but I'm glad the PBA made a stand and reviewed that footage, that's what you gotta do, you gotta review the video and see what happens," he said.

"Just like [how] we try to improve from our team, the PBA tries to improve as an organization."
