Filipino import Carl Tamayo and his team Ryukyu Golden Kings from the Japan B.League recently played PBA team Meralco Bolts in the East Asia Super League.

The Golden Kings won against the Bolts, 89-61.

Tamayo, however, relished the experience of playing against a Filipino team.

"It's a good experience to play against Filipino teams, see my fellow Filipinos play, okay naman," Tamayo said on Sunday while he was watching the match between the University of the Philippines and National University in the UAAP.

("It's a good experience to play against Filipino teams, see my fellow Filipinos play, and it's okay.")

The former UP standout also said he caught up with some of his former national team teammates.

"'Yung teammates ko sa Gilas before sina [Chris] Newsome, sina [Raymond] Almazan, we had a few conversations naman," he added.

("My teammates at Gilas before, like Newsome, Almazan, we had a few conversations now.")

Diego Dario, another product of the UP men's basketball program, even posted a photo of the two of them.

Ryukyu and Meralco will face each other again in the EASL on December 13.
