PBA: Phoenix averts collapse vs Rain or Shine
The Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters averted a collapse against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 99-98, on Saturday in the PBA 48th Commissioner's Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Phoenix led by as much as 20 points in the second quarter, 46-26, before ending the first half at 51-49. Rain or Shine had the lead as the final frame opened, 78-74, but Phoenix had a 16-0 run and reclaimed the lead, 90-78, before taking on the win despite Jhonard Clarito and Santi Santilan's triples late in the game.
Import Jonathan Williams had 29 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists, while Ken Tuffin had nine points and 12 rebounds as Phoenix improved to 2-1.
Santi Santillan had 17 points, while Andrei Caracut and import Dajuan Summers chipped in 15 points apiece as the Elasto Painters remained winless in three games.
Phoenix will next face the Blackwater Bossing on Friday, while Rain or Shine will go against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on the same day.
